Murraylands Fast Facts

The Murraylands region is located in Eastern South Australia and covers an area of 26,650 sq kms representing 2.7% of the land mass of South Australia. The area includes the major centre of the Rural City of Murray Bridge, just 75 kms east of Adelaide, the River Murray towns of Mannum, Swan Reach, Blanchetown and Morgan (to the north of Murray Bridge), Tailem Bend and Meningie (to the south of Murray Bridge). The Region stretches out from these River Murray areas through the Mallee to the Victorian border. Other important centres in the region include; Karoonda, Lameroo, Pinnaroo, Coonalpyn, Cambrai, Truro and Tintinara.

The population of the region contines to grow and can be seen by the information contained in the attached graph, sourced from ABS Census data.

Further detailed statistical information about the Murraylands can be found at the Murraylands Regional Development Board website.  The data contained in this document was produced in 2001, but still provides a snapshot of the Murraylands Region.  The document is currently undergoing updating and will be available in the latter part of 2007.
