Australian Zircon is a publicly listed company on the Australian Stock Exchange. The mine at Mindarie, 148km from Adelaide is the company's primary asset, where is owns and manges the project.  The zircon is predominately destined for overseas markets and many surrounding businesses have contributed to the establishment of the mine.

Flow on effect from the mine will have significant impant in the Karoonda East region as well as the neighbouring Riverland region. Evidence of this is seen with the establishment of housing blocks in the near-by town of Karoonda.
