The Rural City of Murray Bridge is one of the fastest growing centres in regional South Australia. Located only 80 kilometres from the City of Adelaide on the eastern side of the Mount Lofty Ranges, on major road and rail networks, Murray Bridge is the administrative, business, industrial and service hub of the Murraylands. The Rural City is expected to double in population over the next thirty years with accompanying growth in housing, retail and service support.  The recent Urban Growth Management Plan commissioned by the local Council, has identified areas for residential and industrial expansion and set the parameters for future development and investment opportunities including an intermodal hub.
